Pool Technician Job Description 

Under the supervision of the Certified pool Operator the Pool Technician will be trained to be responsible for Essential Maintenance and Operational Duties.

Position Type & Expected Work Hours:

  • Hourly paid, part-time, year-round.  Hourly Pay Range: $19 to $21.
  • In-season: 7 days per week (Approximately 10-20 hours), Off-season: 2-days per week (Approximately 3-10 hours per week)
  • Pre-employment drug screen and background checks are mandatory

Essential Maintenance and Operational Duties: 

  • Maintain water quality according to Klickitat County Department of Health standards to include: 
  • Test and adjust water chemistry to meet standards for oxidation and sanitation
  • Maintain recirculation efficiency of sand filter media systems 
  • Log any leaks, repairs, and abnormal events
  • Be able to fix or report needed repairs

Maintain a safe and clean pool: 

  • Do a Systems Check in the morning on the Dome, HVAC, Office Building
  • Inspect Mechanical Room, pool deck, pool clarity, and gutter grating
  • Report hazardous materials or objects present in the District’s Grounds
  • Check parking lot, exercise area, grounds, trails and garden for damage
  • Report any suspicious activity happening on the District’s Grounds

Maintain a functional and organized Mechanical Room environment: 

  • Filters are backwashed when pressure readings are high
  • Pump filter baskets are clear 
  • Chlorine pumps are functional, lines are clean 
  • Chemical Controllers are calibrated and functioning 
  • Pump room is kept clean

Ensure Mechanical Room is up to code and stocked:

  •  Chlorine tab buckets are present for use
  •  Chemicals are stocked for use
  •  pH adjusting acid barrels are have adequate supply

  • Must be able to work with Staff, Lifeguards and Board Members to improve the facility
  • Off season duties include routine property maintenance such as plumbing, painting, preventative maintenance and putting up dome
  • Have operational knowledge of light and heavy equipment including mowers. 
  • Performs other work related duties as assigned 
  • Performs work related duties during day and night, weekends and holidays. 
  • Must reside near Goldendale be able to respond to after-hours emergencies.
